Scooby
The kids were watching Kung Fu Panda for the 849th time tonight so I put my glasses on the back of the couch and snoozed. When the movie was over I reached up to the back of the couch and my glasses weren’t there. Feeling slightly panicked I started pulling pillows and blankets off of the couch. I found nothing.
It wasn’t until I was on my hands and knees, feeling around like Velma from Scooby-Doo that I started to really freak out. What was I going to do? I can’t drive, read, see the tv or knit! I might as well just die right there if I can’t knit.
I got out my muscles and pulled the couch back. I asked Boog to go behind the couch to see if she could see them because she has better eyes than me, but to do that she needed to get back behind the just put up Christmas tree. So I grab one of the wire, pre-lit branches near the bottom and give a little tug to slide it a couple of inches. What I get instead is a full TIIIMMMMBBBEEERR in my living room. It slips from my fingers and I whip around to see it land square on Junior’s head.
He survived with only minor scratches and not a tear shed. I found my glasses. And Boog volunteered to redecorate the tree. All that really matters to me is that my knitting is safe. Thanks for your concern.
Fuzzy Friday
For me Black Friday is an unfocused crazed day of too many people with too much money to spend. Don’t get me wrong, I love shopping and I love the sales but I never make it very far for very long. And I never buy anything for anyone else. I always go to Joann’s, buy lots of fabric I’ll have to figure out what to do with later and then leave with a lighter pocket and no energy.
I had started with a loose plan that involved finding a christmas tree and maybe some toys for the kids. Then my SIL suggested going to this local uppity kitchen shop that gives the first 200 people gifts certificates in a drawing. $10 – $500. Well I was as good as sleeping on the sidewalk outside until I got a chat my friend Colleen who asked if I would want to go to Joann’s with her in the morning. I said sure, and then she asked me to pick her up at JCPenney at 5:45.
I seriously had no idea that people would be interested in purchasing clothing at that time of day. But then I started to ruminate on the idea of finding a cocktail dress for a party we’re going to next week and maybe some clothes for the kids or Hubby. So I set my alarm for 4 (still a little bit later than I should have) and went to bed. Then Junior woke up. Then Boog woke up. Then Boog whined. Then Junior cried. Then I looked at the alarm and thought “screw this”, I’m going to sleep another hour.
So I did and all of my expectations came true. I bought fabric that I have no immediate plans for and lots of zippers. I love zippers.
You Are a God
Boog has started an obsession with scissors, glue and construction paper. It’s been papering my house for two weeks now. I sat with her and Junior the other day and cut out paper people for them to play with, as an example of what you could do with just scissors and paper. As I handed Junior his people Boog informed him that these were his people and he was now their god.
I had to restrain my snickering, and she was obviously offended by my laughter. She kept asking me what was so funny. I asked her where she heard that or where she might have learned that.
Her reasoning was very logical. God takes care of his people. Those paper people were Junior’s people, therefore he must be their god. It’s near impossible to argue with a 4 year old.
Thanksgiving Rendevous
I can’t believe it’s been over a month since my last post. I think I deserve a flogging. It doesn’t help that mrtl is making me look bad by posting every day for a month. The little brat.
Today is turkey day! Well somewhere else it’s turkey day. I’ve decided to try out Thanksgiving Breakfast. Quiche and Eggs Benedict surrounded by all things breakfast and delicious. Hollandaise, hash browns, sausage, bacon and maybe a piece of fruit. Finished off with pecan pie with homemade whipped cream.
I know a thanksgiving dinner might be a little lighter and healthier, but I just can’t help it. I dream about breakfast. About hollandaise drizzled over protein and fat laden plates. Crunchy and salty with a side covered in syrup. mmmm…my stomach is growling already and we’re not eating for two hours.
I hope you all have a wonderful day. Enjoy your turkey and have a nice triptophan nap!
